Parenting Workshop Featuring Charlie Appelstein
On Tuesday, March 23, 2010, Tuesday's Children family members participated in a parenting workshop facilitated by Charlie Appelstein. This energetic key note speaker was able to spend one on one time with attendees and tend to their individual questions and needs. It was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends in the city over great dialogue and lunch.
Charlie Appelstein has been described as "the best youth care trainer in America" and provides expert strength-based training, consultation and publications. An engaging, informative, and humorous speaker, Charlie is the author of three critically acclaimed books on youth care and the creator of two innovative CDs that help kids and parents make better choices and lead happier lives. Charlie’s strength-based approach delivers a message of hope and possibility to our most vulnerable youth and those who shape and influence their lives.
 The workshop is already receiving rave reviews with one attendee having commented that the program was, "so engaging - the information was excellent and it was wonderful to belly laugh." This was definitely our most dynamic parenting workshop to date!

New York Road Runners NYC Half Marathon
On Sunday, March 21, 2010, nine participants ran in the New York City Half Marathon on behalf of Tuesday's Children. We would like to give a big thank you to our wonderful team members, Brian Doherty, Greg Donohue, Mindy Gabler, Jackie Gilbert, Colby Griffith, Sarah Harney, Chrissane Mortensen, Tim O'Neill and Beth Candella for your committment to our cause. Also, many thanks to those who supported our participants. |
Belleayre Ski Trip
On Friday, March 19, 2010, 75 Tuesday's Children family members and responders took a trip to Belleayre Mountain for some fun on the slopes! The group was welcomed by beautiful sunshine and wasted no time getting out on their skis and snowboards.
One family member commented, "It was my 7 year old's first ski trip and without your organization she would not have gone or had the wonderful experience she did. Her first trip is now a very memorable experience with our empty slopes and perfect weather. Thank you to all!!!"
We would like to extend our thanks to Board member Mike Balboni, Belleayre Mountain for being gracious hosts, as well as everyone who joined us for such a beautiful day! Hope to see you all next year. |
Project COMMON BOND Cultivation Event
On Tuesday, March 16, 2010, a Project COMMON BOND cultivation event was held at the home of Patrick and Margaret Grace. Past Project COMMON BOND participants were able to share their stories about how their participation has positively affected their lives.
Project COMMON BOND is an unprecedented program that reaches out to young adults from around the world. The program being held in August of 2010 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is being designed and delivered by Harvard University's Negotiation & Mediation Clinical Program. Tuesday's Children's Comedy Night
On Tuesday, March 9, 2010, Tuesday’s Children hosted their first Comedy Night at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. Performances by Eddie Brill, Wali Collins, Kevin Flynn, Jessica Kirson, John Larocchia, and Leighann Lord kept the audience entertained and laughing throughout the night! A surprise performance by Colin Quinn kicked off the show. A big thanks to all of our attendees for coming out and supporting Tuesday’s Children’s cause!
