US Open, September 2009

Novak Djokovic. ranked #4 in the world, hosted a Tuesday's Children family member at each match that he played during the US Open.
 
Chris and his mother Traci enjoyed one of Djokovic's matches as did Austin and his mentor Brian.
 
Brian shared with Danielle that it was a "great experience" and that "Novak came out after the match and talked with Austin and gave him an autographed game hat".
 
Novak also accompanied Tuesday's Children at the closing bell of the NYSE on September 11th.
 
Thank you Novak for thinking of the Tuesday's Children families!
 

Fishing Event

The First Responder Institute hosted the first event for First Responders and their families on September 12, 2009.
 
The group spent the morning aboard the Taryn Ann Fishing Boat. Steve, one of the First Responders who attended, shared with Sara and Danielle that “although we didn’t make a killing with the catching, it was an all around great day”.
 
We would like to thank Captain John and his team for hosting this event!
 
 
 
 

 

 

9/11 Family Lunch

On September 11th, 2009, the eighth anniversary of September 11th, 2001, family members gathered at a luncheon sponsored by Tuesday’s Children.
 
Families came together on an emotional day to enjoy good food and great company at Merchants NY Café in downtown Manhattan.
 
Families traveled to New York City from as far as Puerto Rico to spend the day remembering those that were lost.
 
 Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani stopped by the event to greet the families. A big thank you to Michael Balboni for generously sponsoring this wonderful event!

 

 
 

Mets Meet and Greet

 
MeetsMetandGreetOn September 10th 2009 Tuesday's Children participated in the annual Mets Meet and Greet this year on September 10th, 2009.
Tim Redding, Nelson Figueroa, Cory Sullivan, Mike Pelfrey, Nick Evans and Jeremy Reed greeted fifteen Tuesday's Children families before the game to sign autographs and pose for pictures.
 
One Tuesday's Children member told us "We all had a great time!
 
The autographs on the girls' hats were a huge hit (so to speak :) ).
 
The seats were terrific and we are all so grateful. You made what would have been a rough night much easier!"
 
Special thanks to Shannon and the entire Mets franchise for always remembering Tuesday's Children!
 

Moose Fraternity’s Tribute to 9/11 Event

On September 11th, 2009, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 2267 based in Tamarac, Florida hosted their first annual Tribute to 9/11 event.

The community of Tamarac and members of Moose Lodge 2267 came together to honor and remember those lost on that tragic day, while raising over six thousand dollars for Tuesday’s Children. 

The evening included a band of bagpipes, a range of special guest speakers, an auction of items from Ground Zero and Firefighter apparel, a candlelight tribute to Flight 93, a tribute led by the members of the United States Military, the pledge of Allegiance led by the young Mooseketeers and the event finally ended with “God Bless America” sung by all event attendees. 

Tuesday’s Children wishes to thank the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 2267 for their generosity!
