Third Annual Ski Trip

...for Children who lost a parent in 9/11

The slopes of Belleayre Mountain in upstate New York came alive with warmth and laughter on Friday, February 25 at the third annual Ski Trip hosted by Tuesday’s Children.

Buses headed out early that morning from Staten Island, Manhasset, Tarrytown and Paramus, picking up families from across the tri-state area to go to the event sponsored in part by the office of former New York State Senator Michael Balboni of Nassau County and Belleayre Mountain.

More than 75 children who lost a parent on 9/11 and their families joined former Senator Balboni for a day filled with skiing, sledding, snow-shoeing, sleigh rides and s’mores by the campfire.

Whether first timers or devoted skiers, the families had a great time while Tuesday’s Children staff introduced them to the organization’s platform of counseling, mentoring and training programs.

Balboni, an avid skier and a Tuesday’s Children Advisory Board member, hosted the event for the third consecutive year.  The little ones were entertained in the lodge by Rogo the Clown and the participants ended the day with a pizza party courtesy of Belleayre Mountain Ski Center.
