Mentoring Event at Small Factory Productions
Tuesday's Children families and mentoring matches enjoyed an interactive multimedia afternoon at Small Factory Productions on May 16th, 2010!
Small Factory Productions, located in Fair Haven, NJ, put together a "CD Making Event" where the participants enjoyed making their own debut albums with vocals and instrumentals. Everyone had access to instruments, a sound booth and recording equipment.
While the crew was working on mixing the music, the group designed their own CD covers. Each person went home with their own album after their pizza lunch!
Special thanks to Sandra and Chris at Small Factory and to Tuesday's Children Mentor Heidi Lynch for the introducing Tuesday's Children to Small Factory! For more information about Small Factory Productions, check out www.mysmallfactory.com. |
College Prep Seminars
Tuesday's Children conducted three seminars focusing on the college prep experience for 9/11 families and 9/11 Responders. The seminars, lead by noted college prep expert Noreen Cambria, were held on April 28th, May 19th and June 23rd at the CW Post campus.
Seminars answered questions such as "How do I pay for college?", "Where should I apply?", "What are colleges looking for?" and so many more. Each seminar was well received and gave valuable information to the parents and the children about this sometimes challenging endeavor.
One parent told us "You give food for constant thought, so I have learned so much" and another said "You are incredibly informative; wonderful delivery; so optimistic". Each participant in the seminars has been offered the opportunity to have an individualized session with Noreen.

Sunday, June 27th was the 2nd Annual 9/11 Responder Family Fishing Trip. The trip was on the Taryn-Ann Charter Fishing Boat that docks at the Captree State Park Boat Basin.
The group included children that had never been on the boat as well as advanced fisherman. Dozens of fish were caught and a few were big enough to keep! 9/11 Responders had the opportunity to catch fluke and sea bass as well as a a few crabs and sea robins.
With the support and guidance of the crew of the Taryn-Ann, including Captain Steve, Tim, Zach, Pat, Christian and Kevin, the day was a huge success! Special thanks to everyone who got up early to be part of this amazing day of fishing with friends!

Sunday, June 20th was the Eighth Annual Sandy Hook Beach Day. Families registered with Tuesday's Children came from throughout the tri-state area to enjoy a day of fun at the beach!
The event brought together over 100 people for a BBQ, time enjoying the beach and fun games lead by our DJs from This is It Entertainment. Scott and Ed from the Sea Gull's Nest Restaurant put together another amazing event and this year Ed drew caricatures of the guests.
We appreciate the support of the Sea Gull's Nest, This Is It Entertainment as well as Sparkles, the face painting clown! Executive Director, Terry Sears said, "This is truly one of our best events!" |
