Project Common Bond
Project COMMON BOND 2014 took place at Bryn Mawr College from July 20-28th. Tuesday’s Children hosted 70 participants from 13 countries to come together for this 8-day peace-building symposium This year’s symposium featured the very first ‘Leaders in Training’ program, which allowed former participants to return to PCB and prepared them to take leadership roles at Project COMMON BOND in the future. Project COMMON BOND included a Day of Tourism in Philadelphia, which allowed participants to grab lunch at Philly’s historic Reading Terminal, take an exciting ‘Duck Tour’ around town and into the Delaware River, and enjoy dinner at the Hard Rock Café. During the year, participants from around the world foster and maintain their PCB friendships through a private Facebook group.
“PCB has changed me as a person. Through dignity classes I have become more open-minded and have been able to move past stereotypes. There have been many opportunities for me to stand up and express myself without feeling judged… I have been able to share my story in a safe place with people who can empathize with me. The skills I have learned will remain with me and I shall share and develop them in my own country.”
– Rebecca, 2013 and 2014 Northern Ireland participant
